After receiving complaints from passengers, Pascal Nnorli, Manager of the Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS), released a statement.

The delay, according to Nnorli, was brought on by a shortage of diesel.

He claimed that the AGO received fell short of the required standard and was categorically rejected following a required laboratory test.

The manager explained that the test is done on every liquid used on the rolling stock, including locomotives, to make sure the proper specifications are being used.

On December 5, 2022, the train service between Abuja and Kaduna was restored after a hiatus of more than eight months caused by a terrorist attack.

On March 28, 2022, at Katari in Kaduna State, at least 63 people were kidnapped and approximately 14 people were killed. After the release of 7 prisoners in July, the final group of 23 prisoners was set free in October.
