Anthony Onuoha, a suspect who was detained by the Ebonyi State police command on Thursday over an alleged car theft, admitted to working with over 30 election riggers to influence the outcome of the last year in favour of Prof. .

In a parade of suspects, Onuoha claimed that they had been hired by a man named Uche General to rig the governorship election in favour of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, or APGA.

He claims: “In November of last year, a car was given to me following governor Soludo’s election because I was one of the 30 people who were kept in one location to work for APGA.

“The car, not the 50,000 salary, was what drew me to work for APGA. That November, I travelled to Anambra State after being chosen by a man named Mr. Uche General, whose last name I do not recall. The section was under the direction of Uche General.

“The part I played there was that on election day, we were kept at Awka North to thumbprint ballots. We agreed that at the end of the day, we would be given a car and 50,000 naira, and they did. We thumb-printed for APGA governorship candidate Charles Soludo.

“Out of the more than thirty people hired for the job, nine of us received a car. They gave me this car and the 50,000 naira to fill it up, he claimed.

Soludo Responds to the Man’s Claim

During the most recent Anambra State election, Soludo denied making any deals with the suspect.

He said, “The police should apply the full force of the law to the suspect. We do not know him, and he is just making up stories to get out of trouble.

Nobody is aware of him, and he is a common criminal. Additionally, BVAS was employed in Anambra State during the election last year. Where then did they take the thumbprints?

“We have never met him. We don’t know who he is. He must be a criminal and that is why he is in the police net. APGA won an election that was declared the most free and fair election in Nigeria.”

“There was no such thumbprinting in that Anambra election. It was BVAS that deployed in that election.

We don’t know that guy, the governor of Anambra State does not know him. And APGA as a political party does not know him. The guy is on his own and he should face and carry his cross,” he stressed.
