INEC declares winner for Yobe South Senatorial district

 

Ibrahim Bomai of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of the Yobe South Senatorial District election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

 

Abatcha Melemi, the Returning Officer, made the announcement on Saturday at the Federal College of Education (Technical) in Potiskum.

Melemi explained that Bomai received 69,596 votes to defeat Halilu Mazagane of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received 68,884 votes.

Recall that the zone’s election was initially declared inconclusive due to overvoting at the Manawachi polling unit in the Fika Local Government Area of the state.

On Saturday, however, supplementary elections were held at the affected polling places, resulting in Bomai being declared the victor.

In his acceptance speech, the winner of the Yobe South senate district, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, thanked voters and supporters for their tenacity and affection.

 

However, he extended hands of fellowship to the locals, encouraging them to work together to advance the senatorial district.

 

Bomai used the forum to thank Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, the APC, and other stakeholders for their assistance in securing his election so he could continue serving his constituents.
