APC asks US govt to ignore election petition

On Monday, the United States branch of the All Progressives Congress wrote to President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kelvin McCarthy, urging them to disregard a petition filed by some disgruntled Nigerians supposedly disparaging the 2023 presidential election.

This request comes three days after the US government gave permission to certain diasporans to use a park on April 3 to protest the result of the Nigerian presidential election of 2023.

Franklin Ekechukwu is slated to head the planned rally on behalf of the Nigerian American Coalition for Justice and Democracy Inc.

Ekechukwu revealed in a letter that the rally was their means of criticising INEC’s failure to “follow its standards and the rule of law in accordance with democratic values.”

“The unification of activists against the military has strengthened the democracy we’ve enjoyed since 1999.” Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is seen by individuals who sacrificed their lives and resources to make this a reality as an unrepentant leader from the NADECO days who struggled to make this democracy a reality.”

Tinubu, according to Balofin, became a point of reference and a grandmaster of strategic transformation to whom country leaders constantly turned for ideas and turnarounds. Balofin also described Tinubu as a master of political draught and chess with gaming mastery of political victories.

“It is essential to respect the democratic process and the electoral body’s judgements. No person or organisation has the right to advocate for the abolition of democracy or the installation of an interim administration. Their activities are not only unlawful, but they also jeopardise Nigeria’s peace and stability.

“They have called for acts that contradict the established procedures for resolving conflicts and complaints, which is a violation of the constitution. Not only are their acts and statements subversive, but they also constitute a danger to the peace and stability of Nigeria. Hence, we encourage you to denounce this move and make it clear that the British government supports the democratic process in Nigeria unequivocally.
