NAF Airstrikes Neutralise Bandits In Kaduna
On Wednesday, April 12th, the government of Kaduna state announced that bandits fleeing an attack scene in the Birnin-Gwari local government area of the state were eliminated by air strikes.
The suspected bandits were shooting and committing heinous crimes, prompting residents to flee for their lives.
After being contacted, the Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch swiftly responded by eliminating the criminals.
Samuel Aruwan, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed the development in a statement.
“At approximately 9:44 a.m., the Ministry received word that armed bandits were attacking the village of Sabon Layi in Birnin Gwari LGA.
“It was confirmed that the bandits were shooting, rustling cattle, robbing properties, and committing other heinous crimes, causing residents to flee for their lives.
“The Air Component of Operation Whirl Punch was contacted immediately for action, and the unit responded swiftly to the scene.
“A thorough scan conducted upon arrival at Sabon Layi revealed normal human activity at the reported location. Four kilometres north of the village of Sabon Layi, the bandits were spotted fleeing from the aircraft. They were engaged and eliminated over multiple passes.
“No additional movement was observed following the strike. The aircraft maintained its presence before withdrawing from the sky.
“While the government awaits a formal report on the initial attack in the village of Sabon Layi, Governor Nasir El-Rufai commended the Air Component for its prompt response and expressed his appreciation for neutralising the fleeing bandits,”
