Nnamani dumps PDP, reaffirms ties with Tinubu

 

The former governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, has finally left the Peoples Democratic Party after months of speculation.

 

On Monday, Nnamani announced his decision in a signed statement he made available to Ejes Gist News Nigeria in Abuja.

During the 2023 elections, he openly advocated for the President-elect of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, against the candidate of his own party, Atiku Abubakar.

 

The former governor of Enugu State, who was the senator representing Enugu East, resigned from the PDP less than twenty-four hours after losing his bid to return to the Senate on the same platform.

He also thanked his constituents for their unwavering support throughout the years.

 

Senator Nnamani stated that after consulting with his colleagues and constituents, he has decided to leave the PDP due to irreconcilable differences with the party’s national leadership.

He stated that he has moved on and that he hopes his modest contributions to the development of his constituency will serve as a foundation for his successors.

 

The lawmaker thanked Nigerians, particularly the Ebeano political family, and urged them to remain steadfast in the coming years.

His statement included the following: “The former governor confirmed his familiarity with President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledged to continue working with him.

 

Senator Nnamani is optimistic that a Tinubu administration will promote good governance, the rule of law, and human rights in the interest of all Nigerians.
