BREAKING: Court convicts Okupe of breaching money laundering Act

, a former senior special assistant on media to former President , was found guilty by the Federal High Court in Abuja of allegedly breaking the Money Laundering Act.

Okupe was found guilty on Monday by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, who was presiding over the case, of violating sections 16(1) and (2) of the Money Laundering Act and accepting cash in excess of the amount permitted by the Act without going through a financial institution.

Until 1:45 PM, the Justice has halted all proceedings.

This will enable Okupe to make use of his ability to call witnesses to speak to his character under Section 310 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

The court will then proceed to issue its verdict.
