Eid el-Fitr: FG declares Friday, Monday public holidays

 

The Nigerian Federal Government has officially declared Friday, April 21 and Monday, April 24, 2023, as public holidays in observance of the upcoming Eid el-Fitr celebration.

 

On Wednesday, it was reported that the Federal Government’s declaration regarding the matter was made by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. The statement was released by the Permanent Secretary, Dr M.L. Shuaib Belgor.

He extended congratulations to the Muslim community for the successful conclusion of the sacred month of Ramadan.

Ogbeni Aregbesola urged members of the Muslim community to embrace and embody the values of compassion, affection, open-mindedness, harmony, self-restraint, generosity, and positive relationships with those around them, all of which were embodied by the revered Prophet Muhammad.

According to the minister, Muslims should not let go of the self-restraint, self-denial, sacrifice, and deep spiritual consciousness that they experienced during the fasting period. Instead, they should strive to maintain and enhance these qualities in order to become better individuals and true worshippers.

 

According to Aregbesola, President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed his unwavering commitment to ensuring a peaceful transition of government after the successful conduct of the elections.

The government has assured the public of its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of all citizens and foreigners residing in the country.

 

The minister has praised the various security agencies for their achievements in combating criminal activities throughout the nation.
