Breaking: IGP served warrant to arrest Popular PDP Governorship Candidate

The inspector general of police has been served with the arrest warrant issued against Pastor Umo Eno, governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom state.

The IGP is expected to execute the arrest.

On December 23, a chief magistrate court in Wuse zone 6, federal capital territory (FCT), issued an arrest warrant for Pastor Umo Eno.

Senior magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna issued the warrant after convicting the candidate for governor on charges bordering “cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.”

A source confirmed to Ejes Gist News that Pastor Umo Eno failed to appear in court, resulting in the trial being conducted without him and his conviction.

Edet Godwin Etim is the plaintiff in the case identified as CR/94/2022.

The campaign committee for Eno has denied knowledge of the lawsuit.

In the arrest warrant, the chief magistrate stated, “You are hereby ordered to arrest the aforementioned pastor Umo Bassey Eno and bring him before me.”

The warrant was served on the IGP by the police commissioner (legal).

The acknowledgement copy viewed by TheCable indicates that it was postmarked “received” on January 9.

Eno, the preferred candidate of Akwa Ibom governor Udom Emmanuel, won the party’s primary in May 2022.

He received 993 votes out of a total of 1,018 votes cast by delegates in the election.

Onofiok Luke, a member of the house of representatives who received two votes, and Bassey Albert, a member of the senate who received one vote, were defeated.
