The announcement comes just one week after Kebbi and Adamawa states’ governorship elections were declared to be invalid.

Due to violations of electoral laws that resulted in the cancellation of results in voting units within 20 of the state’s 21 local government areas, the election in Kebbi was declared inconclusive last Monday.

Professor Yusuf Sa’idu, INEC’s returning officer in the state, claimed that excessive voting, destruction of election-related materials, disruption of voting procedures, and violence all contributed to the election being declared inconclusive.

Senator Aishatu Dahiru (also known as Binani), an APC candidate, received 390,275 votes in Adamawa, while incumbent Governor Ahmadu Fintiri and the PDP candidate received 421,524 votes.

Prof. Muhammadu Mele of the University of Maiduguri, the INEC state collation officer, however, declared the election inconclusive because of the margin of votes.

“Elections were not held in 47 wards, which affected 69 polling places,” he declared. We now have a margin of 31,249 thanks to this. A total of 37,016 PVCs were collected in locations where elections were not held.
