Otukpo LG chairman’s son killed by herdsmen
The son of the chairman of the Otukpo LGA has been murdered by suspected herders.
According to eyewitnesses, nearly forty people were murdered in the Umogidi community of Adoka, Otukpo local government area, in the state of Benue.
Eric, a local, stated, “Yesterday, the son of the Otukpo LG chairman was also murdered by the rampaging herders. They have expanded their killings into the Otukpo community thus far. No one should believe they are far from their guns and swords.”
Meanwhile, Inspector Obi Abri has been arrested by the Delta State Police Command for the murder of Onyeka Ibe at a checkpoint along Ugabolu-Illah Road in the Asaba region of the state.
DSP Edafe Bright, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, announced this on Wednesday via a series of tweets on his Twitter page.

Bright wrote in a tweet titled “Alleged murder of Onyeka Ibe” that the police inspector had been identified, arrested, paraded, and detained.
“The Command assures the public and the family of the deceased of justice.
“An investigation has begun, and he will be charged and arraigned in court.”
Ejes Gist News Nigeria had previously reported that Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had ordered an investigation into the murder of newlywed Onyeka, age 26, by a police officer.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Olisa Ifeajika, Governor Okowa condemned the shooting of the deceased while Abri and his colleagues were conducting a stop-and-search operation along Illah Road.

The governor also urged residents not to take the law into their own hands, but to allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
Onyeka and his wife were on their way to a destination in the state when they were stopped at the checkpoint by police officers.
After stopping, a police officer allegedly demanded N100 from Onyeka, which he paid.
It was learned that after the 26-year-old paid the money, Abri approached him again and demanded more, but he refused.
It led, however, to a deteriorating argument, during which Abri shot Onyeka in the head.
