The Campaign Office of Muhammad Jibrin Barde, who is the flag-bearer for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 governorship election in Gombe State, has been burned down by individuals who are suspected of being political thugs.
The office was reportedly set ablaze sometime in the wee hours of Monday morning, according to information gathered by this online newspaper.

The opposition People’s Democratic Party placed blame the attack on the incumbent All Progressives Congress (APC).
Barde has issued a statement confirming the attack and stating that several properties have been damaged.

“In the early hours of today, political thugs, who are believed to be affiliated with the disintegrating APC, carried out an assault on the building that houses the Barde Campaign Organization.
In the course of the attack, the building was set on fire, and several properties were damaged.

“The cowardly attack on this edifice, one of many in the last few months, further affirmed the present government’s stand on violence and destruction.
This is a threat to the fragile peace of the state, and it must be vehemently rejected by all and sundry.”
“The PDP Governorship candidate, Alh Muhammad Jibrin Barde, has on multiple occasions rejected violence and political thuggery, stressing the need to engage the resourceful youth of Gombe in some kind of meaningful pursuit.

“The good people of Gombe State are hereby encouraged to vote against this act of oppression on the ballot when it comes up for election in 2023.
According to a statement released by Barde, “The Barde Agenda rests on securing the lives and properties of the people, providing equal opportunities for the youth and women, rapid infrastructural development, and providing a level playing ground for the opposition without any undue oppression.”
