Wike shuts down Atiku Campaign office
Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party‘s (PDP) presidential candidate campaign office in Rivers State has been shut down by the Rivers state Government led by Nyesom Wike.
On the basis of Executive Orders 21 and 22, it was learned that the Rivers State government closed the campaign office.

According to reports, the office was shut down because it organised loud political events in neighbourhoods without the state government’s consent.
The GRA Port Harcourt office was shut down in the early hours of Friday, according to the Rivers State PDP presidential campaign council, who made this known.

According to the PDP Presidential Campaign Council in Rivers, an application was submitted to use the office space for political purposes.
Until the venue was sealed on Friday, the application had gone unanswered for several months, the party claimed.
The seal on the office was deemed anti-democratic and a violation of free speech by the state’s PCC’s media team.
It also advised the state’s party leaders to file a lawsuit in accordance with the constitution’s provisions.
The PDP stated: “The public is hereby informed that the sealed premises did not have a hoarding or poster because the approval had not been given, yet it was sealed off, a sign that the delay in the approval is premeditated and computed to cause this type of unlawfulness.”

“We condemn this act because it violates our basic freedom of expression of opinion. Additionally, this despicable action by the Rivers State Government, when viewed through the lens of politics, tends to militarise our democracy and makes our beloved state politically recessive when compared to other states in the nation, according to a statement from the media team.
“We implore our dear state leaders to challenge this illegality in a court of competent jurisdiction in order to prevent conflict from arising in our political environment.
