Brig Gen Tuoyo, Former military administrator of Ondo state dies at 84. Cause of death has emerged.
Brigadier-General Sunny Esijolomi Tuoyo (rtd), who served as the old Ondo state’s military administrator, has passed away.
Between July 1978 and October 1979, Tuoyo served as the old Ondo state’s military administrator.
Tuoyo, the 84-year-old father of Roli Uduaghan, the wife of Emmanuel Uduaghan, the most recent governor of Delta State, passed away last week on Saturday, December 17, in Lagos State.

Emmanuel Uduaghan, the former governor of Delta, is married to the daughter of Brig Gen Tuoyo, a former military administrator of the old Ondo state.
The announcement of the late military officer’s passing was made in a statement by Monoyo Edon, the former governor’s media assistant, which was obtained by ejesgist.ng.
Uduaghan characterised the late Brigadier General as a patriotic Nigerian who made significant contributions to democracy.
The statement said, in part:
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan lost his father-in-law over the weekend. Sunny Esijolomi Tuoyo was the military governor of the former Ondo state and passed away on December 17, 2022, in Lagos state.

During the military rule of General Olusegun Obasanjo, the late Brig.-Gen. Tuoyo, a retired Nigerian Brigadier General, presided as the military governor of Ondo state from July 1978 to October 1979.
As the father of Mrs. Roli Uduaghan, Brig. Gen. Tuoyo will be recalled for his patriotism and significant contributions to the democratic process that resulted in the transfer of power to Pa. Adekunle Ajasin, the first democratically elected governor of the Ondo state.
While grieving with the Tuoyo family, Uduaghan prayed to God to give the late military officer’s children the strength to endure their irreparable loss.
He Added:
“We are praying for both families and asking God to give them the fortitude they need to get through this trying time. May Papa’s soul rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord. Amen.”
