Bus-Train Accident: Lagos To Charge Driver, Oluwaseun Osinbajo With Manslaughter
The Lagos State Government plans to charge Oluwaseun Osinbajo, the driver of the staff bus involved in a collision with a train, with manslaughter.
The accident occurred on March 9 at the PWD railway crossing in Ikeja, the capital of the state.

The bus, which contained state government employees, was subsequently dragged by the train, which stopped in the Sogunle region of the state.
The incident resulted in six fatalities and 96 injuries treated in government hospitals throughout the state.

Osibanjo was promptly apprehended and turned over to the police for investigation and possible state prosecution.
According to a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs for the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, the Directorate of Public Prosecutions received the investigation’s findings for further legal action.

“Upon receipt and review of the case file by the DPP, a prima facie case of manslaughter and grievous bodily harm against the staff bus driver was revealed.
He will be charged with six counts of manslaughter and ten counts of serious bodily harm. Both offences violate Sections 224 and 245 of the Lagos State Criminal Code of 2015.
The Office of the District Attorney will file charges against the driver immediately.

However, his arraignment before the High Court of Lagos State will be postponed until he is medically fit to stand trial, as he sustained serious injuries in the accident, according to the statement.
