The presidential candidates who honoured their invitation to the recently concluded interactive session were commended in a statement released on Thursday by Archbishop Daniel Okoh, the National President of CAN.
Discussions about issues that will advance the common good of all Nigerian citizens were the focus of the interactive session with CAN.
He remarked that the dialogue with the political leaders in advance of the general elections in 2023 is remarkable and has given everyone a chance to review and comprehend the nation’s development and governance challenges and find long-term solutions.
“CAN formulated these ideas in a document we dubbed The Charter for a New Nigeria after consulting with Nigerians of various religious, ethnic, and social classes about the country’s problems and potential solutions.
The presidential candidates were presented with CAN’s position on specific national issues based on this document, according to the statement.
If elected president in 2023, Okoh urged those candidates to take seriously their pledges to implement the suggested solutions to the country’s crisis as outlined in its charter.
The fact that Nigeria’s new leader will be under intense pressure to have an immediate impact upon taking office next year was nonetheless mentioned by CAN.
In the statement, it was stated that the engagement with the presidential candidates for 2023 was neither a campaign programme nor an endorsement event.
According to CAN, its stance on governmental issues applies to all Nigerians, regardless of their religious affiliation.
