Pathologist Reveals Inconclusive Results in Mohbad’s Death Investigation.
The pathologist who examined the death of Afrobeats star Ilerioluwa Aloba, known professionally as Mohbad, informed the coroner’s inquest that the cause of the singer’s death remains undetermined. This revelation came during the continuation of the inquest on Wednesday, May 15.
Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Wahab Shittu, who attended the court session, relayed the pathologist’s findings to the press. According to Shittu, the pathologist reported that by the time the autopsy was conducted, Mohbad’s body had already decomposed significantly, making it impossible to ascertain the exact cause of death.
“According to him, the cause of death cannot be determined. He gave a lot of reasons. He said by the time they conducted the test, the body had decomposed and that it is not possible for them to determine the cause of death,” Shittu explained. “So the summary he is saying is that the cause of death cannot be ascertained and when you say the cause of death cannot be ascertained, it means it is suspicious, it is not clear, no particular reason. He also went further to say that it may be attributed to reaction to certain drugs administered on him before he died. Again he then qualified that to say he does not know whether it is those drugs that actually led to his death.
Shittu also mentioned that the court heard testimonies about Mohbad’s disagreements with his wife, Wunmi, and with Sam Larry, a notable figure in the singer’s life.
The 27-year-old artist passed away under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day in Ikorodu. His body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy to help determine the cause of death. However, due to the advanced state of decomposition, the autopsy results were inconclusive.
