The 27th of May is traditionally Children’s Day in Nigeria. China celebrates Children’s Day on June 1, Japan on May 5, and the United Kingdom on August 20.

Even though it is not a general public holiday in Nigeria, the day is set aside to honour the younger generation, so elementary and secondary school students receive the day off. In addition to the festivities and celebrations associated with Children’s Day, this date serves to recognize that all minors and children are entitled to health, education, and protection.

Security
All of a child’s basic survival needs, including shelter, food, clothing, medical care, and protection from harm, must be met for them to feel secure.

Stability
The family and community provide stability. If a family cannot remain together in a stable household, it is essential to cause as little disruption to the child’s life as possible. Families and children should be a part of larger units to foster a sense of belonging, continuity, and tradition.

Consistency
There is no “good cop, bad cop.” Parents should coordinate their parenting and ensure that important values remain constant.
The words and actions of parents should foster children’s trust, respect, self-respect, and, ultimately, independence.

Love: Love Saying and demonstrating your love for your children can overcome almost any “mistakes” you may make as a parent. Even if your children have disobeyed, angered, frustrated, or rebelled against you, demonstrate to them that you love them and will always love them.

Education
Ensure that your children receive the best education possible for their future. Obviously, this includes school, but it also includes the invaluable life lessons you impart during your time together.

Parents are the first and most influential role models for their children. Instill your values and teach empathy to your children by being the kind of person you want them to be.
