The Akwa Ibom PDP governorship candidate, Umo Bassey Eno has been found guilty and is now under arrest.
Umo Eno, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate for governor of Akwa Ibom State, has been ordered to be arrested by a chief magistrate court in Wuse zone 6 of the federal capital territory (FCT).

Eno’s arrest was reportedly ordered following his conviction for “cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property” by the court.
According to reports, chief magistrate Emmanuel Iyanna issued the arrest warrant on December 23, 2022.
The chief magistrate ordered, “You are hereby directed to arrest the said pastor Umo Bassey Eno and produce him before me.”

A source reportedly told ejesgist.ng that Eno was found guilty after the conclusion of the criminal case.
The chief magistrate court in Wuse, Abuja, conducted criminal proceedings that resulted in a conviction. The court ordered that the defendant be arrested and brought to court for sentencing because he had repeatedly refused to appear in court, according to the source.

In May 2022, Eno won the PDP governorship primary.
A total of 1,018 delegates cast their votes, and he received 993 of them.
He outperformed his closest rivals, Bassey Albert, a senator, who received one vote, and Onofiok Luke, a member of the House of Representatives, who received two votes.
