Cute Abiola, Skit maker quits Navy hours after Kwara govt appointment

Abdulgafar Ahmad, also known as Cute Abiola, is a well-known comic actor and online comedian. He recently announced that he will be leaving the Nigerian Navy to pursue a career in entertainment.

A few hours after the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq appointed the comedian as his Special Assistant on Creative Industries, the comedian abruptly resigned from his position.

Cute Abiola revealed the news on his verified Facebook account on Friday, where he also stated that the Chief of Naval Staff permitted his departure from the organization.

He indicated that he would give his career in the entertainment industry a greater priority moving forward.

He claims that his time spent serving in the Navy was instrumental in instilling the discipline in him that is necessary to have a successful life.

I am still a member of the family that is the Nigerian Navy, and I pledge to continue to positively represent the Nigerian Navy wherever I go in the world, whether it be in Nigeria or elsewhere. “I am elated to have had the opportunity to serve in an organization of the calibre of the Nigerian Navy,” he stated.

The creator of the skit praised Vice Admiral Awwal Zubairu Gambo, the Chief of Naval Staff, and senior colleagues for the immense contribution they made toward the development of his career, and described the Nigerian Navy as his roadmap to a sustainable career path while doing so.

After posting a video of himself on social media while dressed in military uniform, the comedian was taken into custody by the Nigerian Navy at the beginning of November 2021 and given a sanction for violating the armed forces’ policy regarding social media use.
