The multibillion-dollar Oil Refinery and Petrochemical Company is expected to solve Nigeria’s long-standing refining problems which has been on for ages.
Meanwhile, On Sunday, a Max Air plane crash-landed at Abuja’s Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after a tyre reportedly burst into flames.
When the incident occurred, the aircraft had just arrived from Yola, Adamawa State.
The airport’s Aerodrome Rescue and Firefighting Service (ARFFS) was quickly dispatched to extinguish the fire.
According to Dr. Mike Ogirima, former President of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), who provided an account of the incident, the tyre burst shortly after takeoff at Yola Airport.
However, the plane crashed-landed in Abuja, with emergency personnel already on the ground putting out the fire before the passengers disembarked right on the runway.
“We thank God,” Ogirima said. We’re still on the runway, and the pilot has assured us that everything is fine. He’s signalled for the stairs, and we’re disembarking from the runway to be evacuated to the airport building’s arrival hall.
