The Delta Indigenes Initiative for Good Leadership (DIIGL), a political and human rights group based in Delta State, has asked Nigerians to stop burning down banks and asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and bank managers to make the new naira notes available to Nigerians.

This was written in a press release that the rights group’s leader, Comrade Endurance Ikanone, signed and made available to newsmen on Saturday.
According to the statement, the President urged bank managers to stop hoarding the new Naira notes and make them available to Nigerians for free, not sell them to increase the pain of Nigerians. “We are using this medium to condemn the killing of innocent Nigerians by security forces across the country and the burning of ATMs and banks by angry Nigerians.
The action by bank managers calling on soldiers to shoot Nigerians to prevent them from invading banks is uncalled for and should be condemned by all. Soldiers should be protecting citizens, not killing them to prevent them from burning banks.
We, at DIIGL, completely condemn the actions of a few miscreants who used the scarcity of new naira notes to invade and burn banks and ATMs.

We also condemned the hoarding and selling of new Naira notes to the highest bidders by bank managers and staff. Such acts are forcing Nigerians to take laws into their own hands, which is not encouraging at all. They should be stopped to restore sanity to our society.
The group also tasked CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele to make more new Naira notes available to banks to pay their customers, while urging Nigerians to remain calm and law-abiding, as every good thing comes with some sacrifices. No Nigerian should take the law into his or her own hands.
However, the rights group also called on telecoms and other banking platforms to improve their services so as to make money transfers stress-free.
Comrade Endurance asked Nigerians to come out in large numbers on February 25, 2023, to cast their votes and elect a new leader that will ease their pains.
