Dino Melaye, a former senator representing Kogi West, has emerged victorious in the Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial primaries in Kogi State.
In a closely contested election, the candidate emerged victorious with a total of 313 votes, surpassing the runner-up, Idoko Ilonah, who garnered 124 votes.

In the recent election, Awoniyi Sunday emerged as the winner with a total of 77 votes, while Musa Wada secured 56 votes.
The upcoming election will see the former lawmaker, Dino Melaye pitted against Usman Ododo, who is the designated candidate of the All Progressives Congress.
Senator Dino Melaye has responded to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who had earlier dismissed his gubernatorial ambition to succeed Governor Yahaya Bello.
