Abba Yusuf, who was running for governor of Kano State as a candidate for the New Nigerian Peoples Party, was taken into custody by the Department of State Services or the orders of the DSS director’s Wife.
After an altercation that took place between Yusuf and Aisha Bichi, the wife of the Director-General of the DSS, on Sunday evening at the VIP lounge gate of the Aminu Kano International Airport, it was reported that Yusuf was taken into custody on the order of Aisha Bichi, who issued the order.

It was reported that the convoy of the candidate for governor caused traffic congestion, which prevented the convoy of Bichi from entering the VIP lounge.
An altercation occurred between the operatives of the DSS and the aides of the governorship candidate in an effort to clear the subsequent traffic jam that had resulted from the incident.
Following an angry back-and-forth between Yusuf and Bichi, this eventually turned into a confrontation between the two of them.
It was said that Bichi had threatened to make it so that Yusuf would not be allowed to board his flight.
Before Yusuf was taken into custody, it was reported that he had been prevented from boarding a flight with Air Peace that was destined for Abuja.
According to a source, “The DSS Director’s wife actually ordered the arrest of the Kano governorship candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Abba Yusuf, and barred him from boarding an Air Peace flight from Kano to Abuja on the fateful Sunday night.”

“The trouble began at the gate of the VIP lounge of the Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano when the motorcade of the politician caused traffic, which in turn delayed Bichi’s convoy from gaining entry into the controlled area.
“Bichi’s security guards began beating up people and hitting vehicles for blocking the VIP gate, which infuriated Bichi to no end,”
However, despite everyone’s best efforts, we were unable to get in touch with Sanusi Dawakintofa, the spokesman for the NNPP candidate, because his line was disconnected.
Peter Afunanya, the spokesman for the DSS, has confirmed that Yusuf has been arrested.
He went on to say that he was detained in custody after being arrested for an alleged violation of security.
“He is currently under arrest. According to Afunanya’s observations, “He was lawfully taken into custody for a suspected breach of security.”
