- DSS Speaks On Joint Operation With American Troops In Abuja
- The DSS has revealed it’s stands on a combined operation in Abuja with American forces.
This online newspaper reports that the Department of State Services (DSS) has refuted widespread rumours that its agents and a small number of American soldiers conducted an operation against terrorists in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria.
What was widely reported in the media, according to DSS spokesperson Peter Afunanya, is untrue.
However, Afunanya went on to confirm some DSS activities in Abuja while denying any participation by American or other foreign security forces.
He said that the DSS operation in Abuja was conducted with the assistance of other Nigerian security organisations.
“I can categorically tell you that we did not carry out any joint operation with American Soldiers, as was widely reported in the media,” Afunanya was quoted.
No foreign soldiers were utilized, despite the fact that we conducted an operation in an Abuja Estate with sister agencies.
Reports making rounds states that two alleged terrorists were reportedly apprehended in Abuja, the nation’s capital, by DSS agents and a few American soldiers.
Days after the United States and the United Kingdom raised concerns about the prospect of terrorist attacks in the capital of the country, the suspected terrorists were reportedly detained in Trademore Estate, Phase 3 of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
