Ekiti Tribunal quashes suit seeking removal of Gov Oyebanji
On Thursday, the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Ado Ekiti dismissed a lawsuit brought by Segun Oni, the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) candidate for governor in the June 18 election, which contested Biodun Oyebanji’s election to the position.
The Tribunal dismissed Oni’s case and determined that all of the certificates presented by Monisade Afuye, the current Deputy Governor, belonged to her and were all genuine in its ruling delivered by Justice Wilfred Kpochi.

Recall that Oni, a former governor of the state, filed a petition against Oyebanji (All Progressives Congress, APC), claiming that APC did not have a candidate for governor and that he received the highest number of valid votes.
Oni also claimed that Mrs. Afuye, a former deputy governor, gave the Independent National Electoral Commission phoney results from the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
