Following the investigation into several allegations against him, including corruption and funding for terrorism, Emefiele has been out of the country for a while.

Recall that the Federal High Court in Abuja denied the DSS’s request for an arrest warrant for Mr. Emefiele.

The governor was allegedly involved in “acts of financing terrorism, fraudulent activities, and economic crimes of national security dimension,” according to the DSS’s application, which asked the court to order his arrest.

The lawsuit was filed “ex parte,” which means Mr. Emefiele was not notified of it. Mr. Emefiele was the only defendant.
