According to a statement by Mrs. Serena Edward, the Coordinator of the Lagos State NDE office, the organisation has initiated the process of registering unemployed individuals across the 20 local government areas in the state.
In 1986, the Federal Republic of Nigeria established the NDE with the aim of addressing the issue of mass unemployment and reducing the high demand for white-collar jobs that are insufficient for the large number of graduates produced annually.
The state registration period commenced on Monday, April 17 and will conclude on April 28, 2023. The NDE state office located at 7 Barikisu Iyede Street Onike Yaba and the 20 local government areas in the state have been designated as registration centres for the upcoming exercise.
The Federal Government has called on all unemployed individuals residing in Lagos State to register at their respective local government areas to take advantage of a new programme. The aim of the programme is to gather comprehensive data on the unemployed population in the country and make appropriate plans for their benefit.
