However, according to a report, Akeredolu’s family was planning to fly him out of the country this weekend as his health deteriorated.

In order to prevent images of the governor’s emaciated appearance from leaking, the governor’s family reportedly asked security agents and a few politicians around him to turn off their mobile phones.

An undisclosed source told newsmen that “Governor Akeredolu will be flown out of the country on Saturday for medical treatment as he is in a very critical condition. He was placed in his deceased mother’s wheelchair, and he appeared unconscious.

When visiting him at his family home in Ibadan, all security agents and a few prominent politicians were instructed to turn off their phones.

“His condition is currently critical, so he is being transported abroad. Due to the prying eyes and government employees in Ondo, his family prefers to have him in Ibadan when his condition is critical.

Akeredolu’s wife and children had abandoned him, prompting their swift action to fly him abroad.

Meanwhile, Ejes Gist News Nigeria has learned that despite his incapacity, Akeredolu has refused to hand over power to his deputy.

In 2025, Akeredolu’s second term as governor under the All Progressives Congress (APC) will come to an end.

“Governor Akeredolu is bedridden and incapacitated in his Ibadan home. His extremities are immobile. His wife and children have also abandoned him, a source told newsmen earlier.

“He cannot sign documents, but he is still able to speak. In the meantime, he has refused to turn over government affairs to his deputy’, the source had said.
