Henry Cavill, a British actor, has declared that he will not be playing DC Studios’ Superman anymore.
The decision was made after a meeting with the studio’s new heads, James Gunn and Peter Safran, the 39-year-old announced the “sad” news on his Instagram page on Wednesday.

The new information was revealed two months after Henry, as directed by the studio, announced his return to the franchise.
It is sad news for everyone, I just met with James Gunn and Peter Safran, he wrote. “After all, I will not be coming back as Superman.
Having been instructed to do so by the studio back in October, before their hiring.
It is not the best news, but that is life. An event that takes place is the changing of the guard. I honour that. James and Peter need to create a universe. I send my best wishes and luck to them and everyone else involved with the new universe.
Fans of the superhero character, who have supported him since he debuted as Superman in 2013, were thanked by actor Henry Cavill.
He added, “Superman is still here. “The examples he sets for us are still there, and everything he stands for is still true!
Although it is no longer my turn to don the cape, what Superman stands for will always exist. It is been a pleasure travelling with you all; keep moving forward.
Cavill made his acting debut as Superman in the 2013 film “Man of Steel,” and he co-starred with Ben Affleck in the 2016 film “Batman v Superman.” In the 2017 blockbuster Justice League, he last played the part again.
Gunn provided an explanation for the change in his tweets on Wednesday, stating that the studio was working on a completely new slate.
Peter and I have a DC slate ready to go, about which we are ecstatic, and we will be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the start of the new year, according to his statement.
