Security operatives save INEC’s Kano office.

 

Hoodlums attacked the local government office in Kano state’s Takai local government area.

 

The hoodlums also attempted to set fire to the commission’s office as a fight broke out between political supporters at Takai town’s headquarters on Sunday morning.

“The fire was set up from behind the building but it was quenched before it made serious damage and security operatives disperse the crowd.

“However, some people were injured in the initial fracas, but they were taken to the hospital for treatment, while four people were reportedly killed,” a local who witnessed the incident said.

According to another source, the scuffle erupted as a result of problems with the LGA’s results collation.

 

SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kano, confirmed the incident when contacted.

He stated that the fire was started behind the office building at the generator house, but it was quickly extinguished.

 

 

“They extinguished the fire from the generator house. It was quickly brought under control, and security forces were increased in the area,” he said.

Kiyawa, on the other hand, stated that he was unaware of any deaths.
