Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, has denied holding a secret meeting with Chief Justice of Nigeria, Olukayode Ariwoola, in London to seek the support of the judiciary as his opponents seek to overturn his mandate.
Tinubu, in a statement signed by the Director, Media and Publicity of the All Progressives Congress APC Presidential Campaign Council PCC, Mr Bayo Onanuga, reiterated that he is currently in France and could not have attended the meeting in London.

“Our attention has been drawn to the grossly fake, misleading, and malicious story about the Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola disguising to meet President-elect Bola Tinubu in London,” the statement begins.
“The story was a hallucinatory concoction of hatchet men bent on sowing doubts and public distrust in the legitimacy of our recent election, which was won by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
“We categorically deny that there was any covert meeting between the President-elect and the respected Chief Justice of our country, anywhere.” It’s fabricated news with no basis in fact or authenticity.
“To demonstrate that the story was a mere salacious fiction designed to draw attention to the discredited purveyor, it claimed the Chief Justice of Nigeria for London on March 11, in a wheel chair, to board a plane.”
“The President-elect left Nigeria on March 21, 10 days later.” Except in the imagination of the false news merchants, what kind of appointment or secret meeting will the two men have arranged in London, with such a wide disparity in arrival dates?
“We can confirm that the President-elect has not been in London since he left Nigeria on Tuesday.” He is currently in France, taking a well-deserved break after a hectic campaign that began in January 2022. He will then travel to London before heading to Mecca for the lesser Hajj.
“As we approach the inauguration on May 29, 2023, Nigerians should expect more false and salacious news from a section of the Nigerian media on the opposition’s payroll.”
