The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has urged those who have linked Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi to the recent attack on a US convoy in Anambra State to withdraw their accusations.
The separatist group also characterised the alleged linking as mere demonization by those who oppose Obi’s success.
The group’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, stated in a statement that Obi’s mandate is divine and cannot be shortened by anyone.

While also denying that his members were involved in the attack, Powerful stated, “It is important to note that those accusing IPOB of being behind the attack on the US Embassy convoy are the real masterminds.”
He claimed that those behind it were also responsible for the deaths of the majority of its innocent members in the South East.

“In their quest to blackmail IPOB around the world, they have assassinated innocent people in Biafra Land.” These government agents, for example, assassinated Gulak in Owerri and an army couple in an undisclosed location in Biafra.
“They assassinated Dr. Akunyili (late Dora Akunyili’s husband) in Anambra.” IPOB was accused in all of these and many other state-sponsored murder cases, and police have never investigated any of them.”
Powerful also claimed that IPOB’s intelligence unit saved former British High Commissioner Catriona Laing from assassination in 2022 when she proposed visiting the country.
“If it hadn’t been for intelligence from the IPOB M-Branch on plans to assassinate ex-British High Commissioner, Catriona Laing, in 2022, and the warning from IPOB leadership not to visit the South East, they would have assassinated her as well.”
“This recent attack on the US Embassy convoy is most likely another state-sponsored attack designed to discredit the peaceful IPOB movement and make the South East more dangerous for investors who wish to continue investing in Biafra.” They are again late because our call for investors has already begun to bear fruit.
“Those linking Peter Obi to these attacks on US Embassy Convoy are the ones that fingers are pointing to regarding the crisis happening in the South East region,” Powerful warned those linking Obi to the US envoy attack.
“They will never be able to link innocent Peter Obi to it because he is from Anambra State.” Does this mean that all of the attacks in Adamawa and Katsina states were orchestrated by Atiku Abubakar and the Buhari administration in Aso Rock, respectively?
“No matter how good or right ESN security work is, the Nigerian government and its security agents will never accept it.” What is the justification for linking Peter Obi to the crimes taking place in the Southeast?
“Can it also be said that all of the banditry and terrorism taking place in Northern Nigeria is being orchestrated by their criminal politicians, evidence of which shows that they aid and abet terrorists?”
“We are aware that several terrorist and bandit groups in the North are being funded by unscrupulous elements in the region.” Why are they bringing up Peter Obi, we should wonder.
“Is it because he mustered the courage to compete in their selection process, known as an election, and won by a landslide?” They are now depriving him of the mandate bestowed upon him by the people of Nigeria because he is Igbo.
“They are busy exposing their ignorance in order to demonise IPOB.” America has one of the most sophisticated intelligence systems in the world and cannot be duped by Alamajiris in the Abuja government. We anticipate that the US government will conduct an independent investigation into the attack.”
