Wike insists G-5 Governors will never sit down with Atiku, Says it is over
Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers State, has ruled out the possibility that he and his political allies will negotiate with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar before the general elections.
On Thursday’s media chat in Port Harcourt the rivers State governor made the statement.
A group of five governors known as the G5, led by Wike, opposed Atiku’s bid for the presidency stating that both the presidential candidate and the national chairman of the party can’t not come from the same region.
The other G5 Governors as Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu are among his allies.
Wike stated that the period for resolving the G5’s grievance is “over” and that he is “not prepared to sit down with anyone again.”
“No, that’s impossible; it’s over!” “Now that we’ve said it, there’s nothing anyone can do about it,” he said.
They believe they have a chance to win the election. I’m not prepared to sit down with anyone else.”
