UK to ban Nigerian students, others from bringing family over
The United Kingdom is about to announce new restrictions that will likely prevent Nigerian and other international students from bringing their families to the country.
All master’s students and many other post-graduates will be prohibited from bringing family members.

However, the ban will not apply to doctoral students, whose courses typically last between three and five years and require a high level of expertise, according to the UK media house.
Following reports that net migration into the United Kingdom has skyrocketed to 1 million, Tory MPs have asked Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to “gain control of the soaring numbers.”
According to reports, UK ministers are expected to announce the immigration crackdown on Tuesday or Wednesday in an effort to rein in the rising numbers.
“Rishi Sunak is expected to take a hard stance on immigration, pointing out that the figures he inherited date back to the year ending in December 2022, two months before he became prime minister.
“The number of people entering the United Kingdom by piggybacking on a relative’s student visa has skyrocketed.
“Students brought 135,788 family members to the United Kingdom in 2018 — nine times as many as in 2019.”
Last year, 59,053 Nigerian students brought more than 60,923 family members.
A Tory lawmaker told newsmen on Sunday, “We must get a grip.”
