The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has stated that the Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, poses no difficulties.
After updating the CAPS platform to improve security in order to better serve institutions and the general public, JAMB has mandated that all platform users change their existing passwords. An advisory has been posted on the landing page of the CAPS platform.
In a statement signed by its Head of Public Affairs and Protocol, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB stated, “The Board is aware that some institutions are having trouble accessing their Central Admissions Processing System” (CAPS).
“Therefore, institutions are urged to carefully read the instructions contained in the Advisory, as the Registrar has directed that they be rewritten in clear and unambiguous language that everyone can comprehend.
“However, any institution that encounters difficulties after reading and following the instructions should contact the Director of Admissions at Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board for assistance.
“The Board also observed that, at the inception of CAPS, some institutions used the personal email addresses of Officers responsible for CAPS access to create their CAPS profiles.
“This has contributed to these institutions’ inability to access their CAPS profile promptly, as the new passwords were sent only to the registered email addresses.

“Therefore, institutions are advised to use only official email addresses to create such sensitive profiles in the future to avoid any future difficulties.
“Other contributing factors could include the fact that some institutions had logins that did not comply with the new security standard, necessitating that these institutions update their profiles with new email addresses in order to access CAPS.
“It is also important to note that some institutions had typos in their email addresses, preventing the successful delivery of new passwords.
“Therefore, institutions that do not receive their new passwords are urged to verify the legitimacy of their email addresses with their Desk Officers.”
