JUST IN: Court Disqualify APC Governorship Candidate

Tonye Cole, the candidate for governor nominated by the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, has been found ineligible for office by a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The state’s PDP has asked to disqualify Cole of the APC, arguing that the delegates who voted in the primary election that brought in the candidate were not democratically elected. This would mean that Cole would not be eligible to run for office.

The legal representative for the APC made an initial objection regarding whether or not the court had the authority to hear the case when it was first brought up.
