JUST IN: Crisis hits G5 Governors as Wike walks out Angrily on Ikpeazu, Ortom in London
The G5 Governors, also known as the disgruntled governors elected on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform, are currently involved in a crisis over the party’s selection of a presidential candidate.
The governors of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike; Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu; Benue State, Samuel Ortom; and Enugu State, Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, are the members of the G5.

Until Iyorchia Ayu steps down from his position as the PDP’s national chairman, the governors have stated that they would not officially endorse Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate.
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, the face of the G5 Governors, “angrily” left the United Kingdom (UK) for Madrid, Spain, to watch Real Madrid’s match this weekend after the lengthy strategic meetings in London with the opposition.
This online newspaper learned that Ikpeazu and Ortom advised them to remain impartial because backing a candidate other than the one of their party would spell their demise in the PDP.
Remember that the PDP is running Ikpeazu and Ortom for the senatorial seats representing the Benue North-West and Abia South districts, respectively.

Their chances of running in the 2023 election will be ruined by a suspension or expulsion for anti-party behaviour.
According to a dependable source, Makinde and Wike agreed that they should support Bola Ahmed Tinubu for president of the All Progressives Congress (APC), but Ikpeazu and Ortom had different opinions.
While Wike has no immediate political interest outside of supporting his allies in Rivers state, Ortom, Ikpeazu, and Ugwuanyi are running for senator in their respective states.
