SP Yemisi Opalola, the Spokesperson for the Osun Police, was not available for comment because her phone was off.

A day after his inauguration, Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke issued an Executive Order setting aside the appointment and enthronement of three traditional rulers: Aare of Iree, Akirun of Ikirun, and Owa of Igbajo.

Adeleke also ordered the three traditional rulers’ palaces to be secured and guarded by security personnel in order to prevent the breakdown of law and order.

Following the selection of Prince Ponle Ademola as the Aree of Iree by the previous Gboyega Oyetola administration, there was a palpable sense of fear in Iree Town.

Some of the town’s ruling houses and organisations had objected to the choice of Ademola, claiming that Oyetola administration officials had forced him upon the populace.
