The (NA) announced on Friday that Lieutenant , a female soldier who was taken hostage by some alleged “Unknown Gunmen” and taken to a forest in Nigeria’s southeast, has still not been freed or saved.

According to a statement sent to ejesgist.ng by Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, Thursday’s reports about the alleged soldier rescue did not come from them.

Nwachukwu’s statement reads: “The Nigerian Army (NA) has been alerted to some publications circulating in the social media implying the rescue of Lieutenant PP Johnson, a female officer who was abducted on Monday, December 26, 2022, while visiting her grandmother in Aku-Okigwe in Imo state, not long after completing her cadet training and subsequently being commissioned as a Lieutenant into the Nigerian Army.

“A video of her kidnapping had surfaced on social media, with her kidnappers claiming that it was part of their struggle for Biafra against the Nigerian State.

It is telling that the officer’s status as a woman and a South Eastern Nigerian citizen did not stop her captors from dehumanising her in their callous attempt to commit atrocities while pretending to be fighting for Biafra.

This clearly serves as yet another example of the numerous crimes that IPOB/ESN are committing against Ndigbo, the people for whom they claim to be fighting for their liberation.

“Therefore, it should be abundantly clear to anyone who may still be confused about the true nature of these organisations that IPOB/ESN are terrorist organisations disguising themselves as freedom fighters, and they do not merit the support of anyone, especially the good people of South East Nigeria.

As much as we value the public’s concern and goodwill for her safe rescue, we also want to point out that the NA did not provide the information on the officer’s rescue.
