Timipre Sylva, the former governor of Bayelsa State and Minister of State Petroleum for Petroleum Resources, has entered the race for the governorship of the Niger Delta state.

According to reports, friends of the minister have purchased the N50 million nomination and expression of interest form for the former governor from the All Progressives Congress.
The aforementioned friends were reportedly at the APC national secretariat on Monday to obtain a nomination form.

Between 2008 and 2012, Sylvia served as governor of Bayelsa State. In 2019, she was appointed minister of state for petroleum resources.
The state’s gubernatorial election is scheduled for November 11, 2023.
