Emmy-winning Cheers actress, dies of cancer at 71

The death of actress Kirstie Alley, who was perhaps best recognised for her work in the 1980s and 1990s on the television sitcom Cheers, has taken place.

Alley passed away at the age of 71 due to cancer, as stated in a statement released by his family.

Her children wrote, “We are sorry to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away,” and they expressed their condolences.

In the hit television series, Alley played the role of a pub manager and waitress. For her work on the show, she was awarded both an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

The actress, Kirstie who was born in Kansas, has also made appearances in the film series Look Who is Talking and the television sitcom Veronica’s Closet.

In the statement released by the family, it was stated that she “only recently discovered” that she had cancer, but they did not specify what type of cancer she had.

“She fought with great strength while being surrounded by her closest family members, leaving us with the certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead.”

According to the additional information included in the statement, “as iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.”

In the meantime, Ted Danson and John Travolta, two of Kirstie Alley’s former co-stars, have taken the lead in paying tribute to her.

They lauded her “vigour and passion for life,” as well as her “children, grandchildren, and her many animals,” in addition to “her eternal joy of creating.”
