Lagos speaks on ‘abolishing’ all Eze Ndigbo titles over DSS’ arrest of Fredrick Nwajagu
Lagos State Govt Debunks report on ‘abolishing’ all Eze Ndigbo titles
The Lagos State Government stated on Saturday that it has not eradicated all Eze Ndigbo titles in the state, calling the circulating rumours “April Fools’ Day.”
Ejes Gist News Nigeria reports that the rebuttal followed reports on social media that the administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu has abolished Eze Ndigbo titles in Lagos.
Fredrick Nwajagu, the Eze Ndigbo, Ajao Estate of the state, was arrested after releasing a video calling for an invasion of the illegal Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) into Lagos to protect Igbo people and their properties across the state.
Nwajagu is in the custody of the Department of State Services at this time.
In response to the rumoured abolition of all Eze Ndigbo titles in Lagos, Gbenga Omotoso, the state’s commissioner of information and strategy, debunked the rumour.
“It appears to be an April fool. “Let’s ignore this for now,” Omotosho is quoted as saying.
