Senate Confirms As Chairman

The Senate has approved Lauretta Ifeanyi- Onochie’s appointment as the actual Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission Board.

Ifeanyi-Onochie is the president’s Special Assistant on New Media.

Twelve additional candidates were confirmed by the Senate on Tuesday during the plenary, with the exception of two who were not present for the screening last Friday at the National Assembly complex.

You may recall that on Wednesday, last week, requested confirmation from the Senate of the appointment of Lauretta Ifeanyi-Onochie, his Special Assistant on New Media, to the position of substantive Chairman of the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

In the letter, Buhari also listed 14 additional people as Managing Directors, Executive Directors, and Board Members.

They included Samuel Ogbokwu, a resident of Bayelsa State, to fill out the remaining two years of his predecessor’s term as managing director.

Other members include Dr. Pius Odudu, Hon. Orok Duke, Dr. Emem Willcox Wills, Denyanbofa Dimaro, and Dimgba Erugba, who represents the state of Abia ( Edo State).

Others included Elekwachi Dimkpa (Rivers State), Hon. Gbenga Edema (Ondo State), Engineer Anthony Ekenne (Imo State), Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Abubakar (Nasarawa State, representing North-Cenral zone), Alhaji Sadiq Sami Sule-Ikoh (Kebbi State, North-West), and Prof. Tahir Mamman SAN (Adamawa State, North-East).

Additionally, the President proposed Charles Ogunmola of Ondo State as the Executive Director, Projects, and Major-General Charles Airhiavbere (retd) of Edo State as the Executive Director, Finance.
