Ebonyi Gov, Umahi Pleads For Forgiveness

Similar to President Muhammadu Buhari, Ebonyi Governor has pleaded with his constituents for forgiveness as he prepares to leave office on May 29.

On Monday, while addressing state workers on the occasion of Workers’ Day in 2023, the governor admitted that he must have stepped on people’s toes during his eight years in office.

The governor also pleaded with the citizens of the state to support the incoming administration of Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, stating that the former Speaker would continue from where he left off.

He stated, “In less than four weeks, a new government will be in place. The new governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is a seasoned individual who will assume the responsibilities of governance from where we leave off. Please grant him peace and time to calm down.

“There is no question that I stepped on toes and offended some people. It was never intentional; I did the best I could with the information I had at the time. Please forgive me for the sake of our people.

“As I bow out, I have pardoned everyone who believed they had offended me. May God bless our state, its workers, and its citizens.

This comes one week after President Muhammadu Buhari pleaded for forgiveness from Nigerians for failing to meet their expectations.
