“We’re brothers”: Shiite Muslim group storm church service in Kaduna on Day

In Zaria, Kaduna state, some Shiites from the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN), one of the largest Christian denominations, celebrated Christmas alongside other Christians.

On Sunday, December 25, members of the group participated in a prayer meeting at the Church of the Brethren in Nigeria (Ekkelisiyar ‘Yan Uwa Ta Nigeria), Samaru, Sabon Gari, Zaria, Kaduna state.

In Kaduna, Shiites, Muslim storm church to celebrate Christmas

They gave a gift to the church, as a further demonstration of their love and support for their Christian counterpart.

Why Shiites, Muslim Group attended the Kaduna Christmas service

Isah Mshelgaru, the group’s leader, spoke after the service and explained why they were in the church.

He claimed it was a manifestation of love and an effort to foster greater religious tolerance between the two faiths.

He claimed that they desired to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ alongside Christians.

Mshelgaru said,

“If someone is not your brother in faith, he is still your brother in humanity, according to Islam, and we all share this humanity, whether we are Muslims, Christians, or anyone else.”

The group’s leader continued by saying that cooperation is crucial, particularly now that the nation is dealing with numerous security issues.

The resident pastor of EYN Church, Samaru, Zaria, Rev. Tijjani Chindo, also spoke and mentioned that the Muslims were welcomed with joy.

He urged others to imitate the action all over the nation.
