More trouble as Wike exposes Atiku over secret meetings with APC governors
The governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, has said that Atiku Abubakar, the PDP’s presidential candidate, meets frequently in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, with governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In response to recent claims made by PDP party members loyal to Atiku that he, along with governors of the states of Oyo, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Abia, Okeizie Ikpeazu, and Benue, were considering a deal with Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the APC, Wike made this statement at the official launch of a road project in Rivers on Friday.
Ejesgist.ng had reported that five aggrieved PDP governors have demanded the support of Tinubu, for the PDP governorship and senatorial candidates in their respective states, during a meeting with Tinubu, in London, United Kingdom, on Tuesday.
Speaking at the flag-off of a road project on Friday, Wike said, “They said we had a meeting with so and so. What is your problem? Assuming there was a meeting, has Atiku not been holding meetings with governors of APC?
“Ask him. As he is in Dubai, don’t we know what is going on? So, why do you bother about us? G5 that you said you can win without us; leave us alone.”
Wike said rumours that he was set to throw his support behind any candidate were false and should be disregarded as he will announce when a decision has been made.
“So please focus on what we’re doing, forget all this their rumour mongering everyday…Tinubu has settled this one, Obi has settled this, Obasanjo has done this, this has done this.
“So you can see people instead of them to focus on their campaign…am I contesting election?” the Rivers State governor added.
