This action follows the stance articulated by Governor Abba Gida-Gida in his inaugural address last week.

He issued a clear directive to the state’s security agencies, instructing them to promptly reclaim all public properties sold during the administration of former Governor Umaru Ganduje.

In response to the issue, Governor Abba Gida-Gida stated, “Today, I am announcing that all of these public properties and assets, which were illegally looted and sold by the Ganduje administration, will be seized by law enforcement agencies. Until the government makes a final decision, the police, DSS, Civil Defence, and Hisbah will lead this effort.

The properties in question include schools, religious and cultural sites, hospitals and clinics, cemeteries, green spaces, and the Kano city wall, among others. Additionally, land and assets belonging to Kano State were illegally transferred to individuals and their associates, both within and outside the state.

To ensure that justice is served, Governor Abba Gida-Gida announced that a Judicial Commission of Inquiry will be established within the next few days. It will investigate and prosecute all perpetrators and those who aided and abetted these illegal activities.
