Gunmen Assassinate Community Leader In Osun

 

A leader identified as Gbenga Okotore was murdered by gunmen in the Okutu-Ope community in Ilesa, Osun state.

 

It was determined that Okotore was shot at close range by the attackers.

The armed men fired randomly into the air before killing their target.

 

A local resident stated that the entire community is in mourning and that the deceased may have been followed to the spot where he was murdered.

He stated that they heard gunfire during the incident but were unable to move closer for fear of being killed themselves.

SP Yemisi Opalola, the command’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident on March 16, 2023, and stated that the perpetrators would be apprehended.

 

“Okotore was a local chief and community leader. We have begun our investigation, and those responsible will not escape justice,” the PPRO stated.

 

She added that a team of detectives had launched an investigation into the matter and that the perpetrators of the heinous act would soon be apprehended and punished.
