What are the Nigerian newspapers’ headlines for today?

 

 

1) The Federal Government reports spending $1.2 million (approximately N560 million) to transport Nigerians stranded in Sudan by road to safe locations from which they can be flown home. Wednesday, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu Dada, disclosed that no Nigerians had been killed in the conflict between warring military factions in Sudan.

2) Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused President-elect Bola Tinubu of being unqualified to run for office. In a courtroom response to Tinubu’s preliminary objection, Atiku argued that, unlike Tinubu, his true identity, age, state of origin, and educational credentials have never been contested.

3) Two soldiers and fifteen villagers were reportedly killed when armed intruders attacked three communities in the Apa Local Government Area of Benue State. Locals reported that the attacks occurred simultaneously in Opaha, Odogbo, and Edikwu communities in Apa LGA on Tuesday at approximately 6 p.m.

4) Prior to the All Progressives Congress’ zoning of the 10th National Assembly leadership, a leading aspirant for the Speaker seat, Aliyu Berata, met with the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, behind closed doors. Betara, who represents the Biu/Bayo/Shani/Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency in Borno State, met Tinubu on Wednesday at the Defence House in Abuja.

5) The Federal Government approved N52.97 billion for various projects in the Ministries of Education, Works, Housing, and Aviation on Wednesday in Abuja. The respective ministers disclosed this to State House Correspondents following the Federal Executive Council Meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja’s Aso Rock Villa.

6) Senator Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has urged Nigerians to have patience with the party regarding the zoning of the 10th National Assembly leadership. This was announced by Adamu on Wednesday, following a closed-door meeting in Abuja between the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the Vice-President-elect, Senator Kashim Shettima, the party leadership, and various stakeholders.

7) Mr. Dons Udeh, a missing candidate for governor in the recently concluded election in Enugu State, was discovered dead yesterday.
